The Group
Our group has two areas of interest. In education, in addition to the normal share of teaching, we provide courses within the teacher training programme and courses within a joint Master with the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of Teacher Education.
In educational research we pursue projects which foster concept learning in Swiss high schools. In addition we support and carry out activities which promote the education in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Through the teacher training programme and other activities we establish and maintain a close contact with various high schools in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
In physics research we are interested in the fast manipulation of magnetic order and the fundamental properties of matter which limit this fast manipulation. In order to address these questions we have built an end station which allows spin and energy resolved photoemission experiments at FEL sources and also with our own laboratory based laser system.
In addition our group hosts the local educational developper who is involved in the development of E-Learning and teaching in the Physics Bachelor and Master programmes and gives a didactic module in the joint Master programme mentioned above.
